Rubbermaid’s Hidden Recycler (For You!)

Thursday, April 12, 2012

I mentioned that I have a bit of a theme going on around here, as I think about Earth Day. I’m throwing around all sorts of ways for you to reduce, reuse and recycle and I’m thrilled to have a few great gifts to help you do it. Rubbermaid’s Hidden Recycler proves the point that being eco-friendly can be done in style. Just take a look at how we were recycling before:

…and how we’re living now:

Here are the key features:image_thumb[3]

  • The Hidden Recycler allows you to keep your recyclables hidden out of sight.
  • It’s a 5 gallon bag that holds up to 36 12-ounce cans and can fit a milk jug.
  • It attaches easily to a cabinet door with hooks (included) or screws.
  • There’s a handle for easy transport.
  • The bag has a leak-proof liner and is machine washable.
  • The bag and all packaging is made from recyclable material, and the product is recyclable.

While it’s great to have our recycling up and out of the way, this has made for more frequent emptying. I suppose it would be difficult to make the recycler any larger though, if the goal is being able to hang it inside the cabinet. If you have the same issue, I suggest doing what I do—make emptying the recycling one of your kids’ chores, that way it’s extra work for them, not you.

Other than that, I really like this product. I love that my recycling bin is made from recycled material and can be recycled. That was clearly very well thought out. It’s also a plus that the recycler can be washed and is leak proof.

It’s a hit in my book, so we’ve given it 4 1/2 mamas.

[1] I love it but wanted to account for the fact that I wish it was larger. [2] It’s family approved. I think they were tired of the bulky bin on the side of the counter. [3] It works just as described. [4] The price is reasonable at about $15.99.  [5] It’s unique in that it combines so many options important to moms.

To win it, visit the Ultimate Blog Party post and enter. There are some great prizes to choose from but you’ll have the option to make this your preferred prize. I’d love it if you would connect with Rubbermaid after entering
